As we say goodbye to 2008...

As 2008 comes to a close, I think it's safe to say that we ALL, for whatever reason, are glad to see it go. Some of us (Obama supporters) are elated with the historic election of this brilliant young man who just happens to be African American, to President of the United States.

While our economy is in worse shape than it's ever been, with millions of people finding themselves out of work and major industries begging the federal government for a handout to prevent going out of business, there IS a silver lining to all those "clouds."

One such lining is the fact that those businesses, institutions, organizations and elected officials who were used to operating inefficiently with impunity are now having the covers ripped off their greedy and integrity-less actions and the day of reckoning is upon them.

Also, as I was recently reminded by Billionaire Bill Bartman, much of the "old money" wealth was created during the great depression, implying that there is even greater opportunity for wealth-building now that at any other time since the great depression.

For my conservative Republican friends (those who did NOT vote for Obama - and many DID), all I can say is, "you're forgiven." Even a blind person could see the mess George W. Bush has made of not just the United States economy, but pretty much the whole world.

It will take decades to undo all the assaults on the Constitution that took place at the hands of the Bush Administration. However, I have faith in the upcoming administration and the millions of people who voted him in who want to play an active role in returning the U.S. to it's place of respect and prominence.

To quote President-Elect Obama, "...we are not red states and blue states, but the United States of America."
